The "sons of God" (בְּנֵי הָאֱלֹהִים, Benei ha-Elohim) were righteous men from Seth’s lineage.
✔️ The "daughters of men" (בְּנוֹת הָאָדָם, Benot ha-Adam) were ungodly women from Cain’s lineage.
✔️ Their intermarriage led to corruption, as righteous men turned away from God.
How the Sethite Men Fell into EvilThey Took Wives from Cain’s Line
Genesis 6:2 – “The sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful, and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose.”
Instead of staying faithful to God, they were drawn to beauty and desire rather than righteousness.
They Abandoned God's Ways
By marrying these ungodly women, they were influenced by their wickedness.
This follows the pattern seen throughout the Bible, where righteous men are led astray by ungodly women:
Solomon (1 Kings 11:1-4) – His foreign wives led him into idolatry.
Samson (Judges 14-16) – Delilah deceived him, leading to his downfall.
Ahab (1 Kings 16:30-33) – His marriage to Jezebel led to idol worship.
Their Children (Nephilim) Became Corrupt
Genesis 6:4 – “The Nephilim were on the earth in those days... mighty men of renown.”
The Nephilim were powerful but wicked men, known for violence and corruption.
The Whole Earth Became Wicked
Genesis 6:5 – “The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.”
Because the righteous men of Seth’s line had given in to evil, nearly all of humanity became corrupt, leading to God’s judgment in the flood.
What This Means
The descendants of Seth were originally righteous, but they compromised by marrying wicked women.
Instead of leading their families in righteousness, they were influenced by their wives and turned to evil.
This fits with God’s repeated warnings in the Bible about avoiding ungodly influences in marriage (Deuteronomy 7:3-4, 2 Corinthians 6:14).
The Sethite men fell into wickedness by giving in to their wives' influence.
This led to corrupt and violent offspring (Nephilim).
As a result, humanity became so evil that God decided to send the flood.
This interpretation shows how compromise in marriage can lead even righteous men away from God—a warning seen throughout the Hebrew Bible.
